The short answer

  • No single tool is best for every agency. AI tools for travel agencies fall into four groups: AI front desks, agency CRMs, WhatsApp platforms and advisor platforms.
  • To answer and quote enquiries automatically, look at AI front desks: Paxbird for WhatsApp, Instagram and Gmail with DMC pricing (early access), or Janet for web-chat and voice intake at catalogue-led operators.
  • To run bookings, invoices and GST in India, look at agency CRMs: Manage My Agency, Sembark or QuoteMyTrip's TravelCRM (from ₹999 a month).
  • For WhatsApp broadcasts and general AI chatbots, look at Interakt, Wati, AiSensy or Gallabox (free to about ₹2,800 a month, plus WhatsApp fees). For US advisors, look at Fora, Tern, Travefy and TravelJoy.

"AI for travel agents" now covers very different products. Some talk to travellers, some run the back office, some send WhatsApp campaigns, and some are a whole business in a box. Choosing well starts with knowing which group you need. We checked every tool below against its own website on 10 October 2026.

We make Paxbird, one of the tools listed. We've tried to describe the others fairly and say plainly where they're the better pick.

AI front desks

These tools work where enquiries arrive and try to turn each one into a sale without an agent typing every reply.

Paxbird is an AI front desk for travel agencies. It replies to travellers on WhatsApp, Instagram and Gmail within seconds and asks the questions you set for each trip type. It sorts each lead into hot, warm or browsing, prices fixed packages from your rate sheets, emails your DMCs for custom trips and reads their replies. It then drafts two or three options with your markup. Every quote waits for your approval, then goes out on the same channel as a PDF and a link. Paxbird is in early access. Full comparison: Paxbird vs Janet.

Janet handles the first step of an enquiry for curated, catalogue-led travel brands. It takes web chat and voice, answers from your approved inventory, produces a Request Card with details, gaps and next action, then scores, routes and follows up. It installs on WordPress and Wix and sells through demos.

Agency CRMs and back office

These tools are the system of record: leads, quotes, bookings, payments and paperwork.

Manage My Agency is a cloud travel CRM for Indian agents and DMCs. It includes a WhatsApp inbox, an AI quote builder that works from a pasted enquiry or uploaded rate sheets, AI vouchers, OCR for tickets and passports, GST and TCS invoicing, ledgers and visa tracking. Full comparison: Paxbird vs Manage My Agency.

Sembark serves more than 1,200 DMCs and tour operators across 28 countries, by its own count. Its AI features include an itinerary builder, an importer that turns supplier packages into quotes, and an email reader that turns enquiry emails into leads, plus WhatsApp automation through Notify. Pricing is a one-time setup fee plus a monthly fee per user, with no free plan.

QuoteMyTrip's TravelCRM is the budget option: ₹999 a month for one seat, ₹2,999 for five and ₹4,999 for fifteen, plus GST. Its AI quotation builder makes a branded quote from a lead, and it drafts follow-ups with AI. QuoteMyTrip also runs a marketplace where travellers request quotes from agencies.

WhatsApp platforms

General WhatsApp Business platforms give you a shared inbox, broadcasts, chatbot flows and AI agents that answer from your documents. They suit marketing and FAQ-style support in any industry. None of their travel pages describe pricing trips from rate sheets or requesting DMC quotes.

  • Interakt, owned by Jio Haptik: Growth from ₹2,799 a month plus taxes, with AI agents as an add-on.
  • Wati: Growth from ₹2,199 a month billed annually, with AI credits included.
  • AiSensy: a free plan and Basic at ₹1,500 a month, with an AI agent builder add-on at ₹1,350 a month.
  • Gallabox: Basic from ₹2,399 a month billed annually, covering WhatsApp, Instagram and web chat.

Advisor platforms (US)

Fora is a host agency and platform. Advisors pay $299 a year, book under Fora's IATA number and keep 70% to 90% of commission depending on sales. Fora reported more than 15,000 active advisors and a $1 billion valuation in July 2026. Its AI assistants, Sidekick and Via, help advisors research and draft. Full comparison: Paxbird vs Fora.

Tern is an operating system for US advisors, with more than 11,000 advisors by its own count, at $35 a seat a month billed annually. Its AI Assist turns supplier PDFs and emails into itineraries. Its agentic AI, launched in June 2026, sorts the inbox and drafts client messages, and the advisor approves each action.

Travefy builds itineraries and proposals for agents, agencies, tour operators and DMCs. Its Core plan is $39 a month billed annually, with a 10-day free trial. Its AI features include content import and, since 2026, AI commission reconciliation.

TravelJoy is a CRM for independent US advisors. Starter is $19 a month with no AI. Higher plans add Itinerary Copilot and, from Pro up, Magic Email, which turns supplier confirmations into itineraries or proposals.

How to choose

  1. Find where your time goes. If it's replying and quoting, start with a front desk. If it's invoices, payments and paperwork, start with a CRM. If it's campaigns, start with a WhatsApp platform.
  2. Follow your channels. If enquiries arrive on WhatsApp and Instagram, choose a tool that lives there. If they come through your website, an embedded intake tool such as Janet fits.
  3. Check how prices get into quotes. Some tools price from rate sheets you upload, some only format what you type, and Paxbird requests prices from your DMCs. That step is usually the slowest part of a custom trip.
  4. Keep approval with you. Prefer tools that let you approve quotes and step in on any conversation.
  5. Count the full cost. Add setup fees, per-seat pricing, AI add-ons and WhatsApp message fees before comparing headline prices.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI tool for a travel agency?

It depends on where your time goes. If you lose bookings because replies and quotes are slow, an AI front desk such as Paxbird fits. If bookings, invoices and compliance are the problem, an agency CRM such as Manage My Agency or Sembark fits. If you mainly send WhatsApp broadcasts, a platform such as Interakt, Wati, AiSensy or Gallabox fits.

Is there a free AI tool for travel agents?

AiSensy has a free WhatsApp plan, though its AI agent builder is a paid add-on. Travefy offers a 10-day free trial, and Janet's LinkedIn page advertises a free one-month pilot. Most other tools are paid, and Paxbird has not announced pricing.

Can AI write travel quotes?

Several tools build itineraries or quotes with AI. Manage My Agency and QuoteMyTrip build quotes from an enquiry or rate sheets, Tern's AI Assist turns supplier PDFs and emails into itineraries, and Paxbird requests prices from your DMCs and drafts quote options for you to approve.

Will AI replace travel agents?

The tools in this list keep the agent in charge. Tern's agentic AI needs the advisor to approve each action, Janet says 'agents make decisions', and Paxbird waits for the agent's approval before sending any quote.

Which AI tools for travel agents work on WhatsApp?

Paxbird, Manage My Agency, Interakt, Wati, AiSensy and Gallabox all work with WhatsApp. Sembark offers WhatsApp automation through its Notify feature. Janet's LinkedIn page mentions WhatsApp, but its website shows web chat and voice.
